Let's say that a stranger ask's your best friend what they thought of you, how would you think they would explain you in entirety? If you had to introduce yourself to someone with only 25 words what would you say? What would you talk about? Your age, your deeds, your interests, your hobbies, or your school?
In our high demanding society, people are very interested in what we have done or want to do, for example; if you may want to be“a Teacher," “ Olympian," “ Musician," “ Boss,” or maybe even a "President." But because we are so culturally defined the fact is that we focus on our efforts being successful as well as to achieving a higher status.
Culture is what designates our actions and so the things that we say and do should affect others through the things that we as Christians do.
Let me illustrate this by referring to the ice-berg! What is seen above the water represents our cultural status. What lurks underneath the water (around 90% of an ice-berg) shows our love and passion, forming the greater part of who we are (what is seen by God!) Now the question is:What exactly does God desire and want to see underneath and on the surface of our lives?
What is under the surface?
"God does not favor people with titles, trophies or talents. God favors people who are prepared to submit to His Word with fear and trembling, some of the most favored people in God's eye's were really the most humble children of God." [http://www.christianitytoday.com/iyf/search/?query=seeing+god+through+me&submit.x=0&submit.y=0&submit=submit]So don’t keep a huge iceberg underneath!! Let people see God shine through you like a crystal window. Don’t pour all your energy into what culture sees you as. Rather, remember who you really are, underneath, 'below the surface' Develop growing in courage and boldness, so people can get a glimpse of the 'iceberg'!
Fact: As glaciers move, they create a variety of patterns on other ice glacier's and land called glacial scraping (making an imprint). "Compare the likeness of glaciers in our daily routines of life, continuously moving about making permanent impressions hopefully of God's Love on others" [Danielle Snowden]
I love it! Thank you for the motivation this morning!
